i had a dream about tackling him through a window of the 3rd floor break room...i landed on him and lived, ha!

i just met with my orthopaedic surgeon for the first time today (neurosurgeon next week)...he wants me to get 2 more nerve block injections - but i'm supposed to stay awake for these so i can tell the doc when the pain starts going down (like that'll be easy with a huge fuckin' needle stickin out of my neck), and this will tell the surgeon which vertebrae need to be fused.. he said the surgery is basically a quality of life type of decision... i could either live with my condition and keep taking pain killers or have the surgery and hope for the best.. as much as i love pain killers, it's the pain i don't like, so i'm going for the surgery

i also met with a new pain doctor today, because the last one was some arrogant fuck of a witch doctor from africa...couldn't understand a word he said except for the insults toward myself and my mother in front of his entire office staff...anyway... i got some awesome new pain killers and anti-inflammatory meds...yayyyy

i'll let you know how the injections go.. it's possible the nerve blocks may actually work this time, so i might not need surgery...right away....but i still have my sights set on it

dude, you should try acupuncture. a guy at my work had a couple of disk disloged in his neck and he lost complete feeling in one of his arms and his wife sent him to one of those doctors and they were able to make it so he didnt need anymore vicodin and his neck was able to heal itself.

Hey hon, you might also want to talk to him about spinal disk replacement - it's FDA approved for your C5-6 and C6-7 torn/bulging's... You might want to talk to him about it at least. If we can get you in a pit again, damnit, then LETS DO IT!! Here's the link. Seems like it would be much better than fusing that athletic spine of yours together.

A few people have mentioned mentioned acupuncture to me..perhaps that's something I should check out.

Wow that pro-disc thing looks pretty awesome. Too bad they don't have anything like that for the thoracic spine. I'll make sure I show this to my surgeons to see what they think.

I had to go the ER again yesterday because of my headache. I never thought it was possible to throw up because of a headache, but now I know it is. Throwing up lasagna is pretty nasty...even though you could prolly stick it in the fridge and eat it the next day.

They did a cat scan on my head and that came back ok...so it's just a migraine that I've had for the last week and a half. They gave me an IV of morphine, reglan, and benadryl. I spent most of today sleeping, but once I really woke up it felt like I was coming down from really strong drugs.. I did some research and learned that morphine is the active ingredient in opium...never knew that.

My wife gets injections for her ankle becasue she broke it, tore ligaments and dislocated it in a fall.

we sued the city settled out of court but she has 2 plates and 6 screw pins in her leg forever. where the repair was done it wore down the cartlage so she has bone to bone rubbing which has turned to serious authritis. She has the option of the fusing of the Bone basicly at the ankle joint. she right now gets injections of silicone to replace the worn down cartlage.
She has to walk with these two metal rods attached to a shoe which is really sexy and on trips like to the Zoo or disneyland we got her one of those electric scooters. She goes through migrains which comes from the pain sometimes and hates taking pain killers like vicodin becasue your tolerance goes higher almost everytime you take em.

I feel for you becasue I have had ton of back problems from slipped discs and nerve damnage and can only imagine what he pain you feel is. Fuck.

My surgery is this coming Tuesday, August 5th. I wonder if they're going to make a video of it...or if they'll let someone in the room to record it.

I'm going in for pre-op on Monday, and they're going to talk to me about what's gonna happen... I'm actually kinda nervous.

That's good to know. I had a kidney stone pulverized by shockwaves on Monday, doesn't really compare to back surgery but it still sucked.

I can imagine. I remember the episode on sienfeld where kramer passed the stone at a yankees game and they lost or something.

The worst part about being in the hospital was having the 5-inch blood collector thing pulled out of my throat. I'm having the staples removed from my neck tomorrow, and today I got this bone stimulator that sends impulses to the fused spot in my neck to promote bone growth/healing. Swallowing hurts like hell because of the breathing tube...but all in all, it's not as bad as I thought it would be...

My dad had one of those bone growth stimulators when he broke his ankle. Are the little tiny shocks kinda wierd? Glad to hear you doin A-ok. Any chance in the future for implants if they become available for those disks?

The only time I can feel the shocks is when I'm going to bed (yes, i'm supposed to wear it 24/7). Nothing like the shocks from the nerve conduction tests. I'd say it's more like a fraction of the feeling you get from electrical stimulation at strip..err, physical therapy. I love that tho, I always have my therapist crank it up way high to make me twitch. Wink

Thanks man!! That's what sucks about doctors...takes forever to get an appointment, then they only spend lik 5-10 minutes with you.
