i think it's better to revive an old thread for the sake of history...old opinions compared to how things to turn out.. it's best to have evolution in a single thread rather than having to search through a bunch of different threads...
I don't run the board, but I'd say it's ok to make a new topic at anytime as long as it isn't a FAQ or a topic a few pages back. I'd say maybe a 2 - 3 month period is a good amount of time between creating new topics. On the Static-X forum I'd be willing to bet that 25% of the people there weren't posting 3-4 months ago.
I have no problem with reviving old post. As long as it's not to start shit or revive old arguments. One problem about it though is this...and I have seen this a LOT. New folks read something that was posted 4 years ago by a poster who's long gone. They quote it..and say something negative. Then of course everyone attacks that person because they didn't look at the date.
All I ask is that people pay attention to the DATE. It's a pet peeve of mine.
Ok let's say someone revives an old thread, and doesn't say anything offensive in it...to ANYONE. Let's take it a step further and say that after posting, others attack him for SIMPLY POSTING.
When does it become ok for people to lash out and attack someone for doing something as simple as posting on these forums?
It's never ok to do that. I don't know why people do that. Maybe they posted something lame and don't want it revived...in that case....hahahah on them!
