i loved shadow zone, but start a war felt like the pars of that album i didnt like as much...

though i do LOVE the final otsego song.

I don't know if they'll ever top Machine for me. Over time it only seems to get better. Every song is just so multi-layered and I really think my main gripe with some of their more recent stuff is that the songs feel too stripped down in comparison. Cannibal seemed like a step in the right direction to me, though. Behemoth is the only song from their last few albums that might capture that same sound. Just heavy, complex, and driving. What an appropriately titled album. I am happy to hear Wayne reference the album when talking about the sound of the one they are currently recording.
