I don't think people understand how hard it is to write songs.

When the WDT songs were written Wayne was in a different time and place, and that's what came out.

Just because fans want the music to sound like it once did doesn't mean Wayne's going to be able to write songs that way again. That's why bands change sound throughout time. It's not always because they want to, but because that's just what happens.

If Wayne forced himself to write songs in the WDT style anyway, they'd probably just come out sounding like b-sides to WDT because Wayne would be forcing himself to do it, and you can't force yourself into a good song.

Just accept the songs and style that comes out, and everything will be dandy.

I must disagree! changes always, but ALWAYS bring you just worse results and disappointments...(at least IMO)

Of course they should improve but term "improve" and "change" are not the same...

IMO Static-X was always mostly into the same style all these years... and the only album that is a little bit different is the last one - Cannibal, but it's awesome too of course and it's within the Static-X style...

I understood pretty well what mattdogg said, and I would also really really want to hear something like WDT on the upcoming album, because WDT simply RULE! it's my favorite album and quite possibly the favorite album of 90% of S-X fans...

I know it's hard to do it, and that music production is INCREDIBLY hard, but we only want Static-X to push it towards WDT as much as they can, that is pretty possible, because, somewhat, it was like that till now...

Wow, I think you need to go listen to Shadow Zone and Start A War again... they're totally different compared to WDT and Machine. If anything, Cannibal is closer to Machine's sound than SZ and SaW are.

Amazing..

Don't worry I know every song into detail Smile
Look, it's a simple matter of views.
From my angle of view I say that solos and metalish stuff from Cannibal are pretty much different than other S-X stuff, and from your point of view is probably about something from SZ and SAW but hey you can't say any album is COMPLETELY different...they all are but just a little...

MidnightSun is absolutely correct. WDT captured the spirit of that period of time and could never be remade. Some of those songs were written over 13 years ago, that's a lifetime ago for many of you and for myself. I have no choice but to write songs that I am excited about now, not force something to sound old. I don't care if some Static fans only like our first album, I still made it, and I'm proud of it, and now it's 2008, not 1999! The only thing I can guarantee it that I will put everything I have into every record I make... always.

You got it right, partner. If you were to try and make an album try to sound like wdt, you'de be like Korn after Head left the band.

ZING!

to be fair though, the first korn album is the only one from the 'head' days that is good all the way through.

and 'see you on the other side' is their 2nd best album yet. really, iy sounds like MUSIC not the normal downtunes blabber fest that everything from life is peahy all the way tolook in the mirror sounded like.

I don't think they did it for the money, in fact they probably had to pay all those people, meaning the music video cost them more to make than it normally would have.

It was a funny video that fit the theme of the song, I enjoyed it.

When I said "money" I meant "fame", and for me that is one of the lowest vids ever...
I mean its natural when someone wants the fame, and thats absolutely ok, but fame like fans, like ppl that like your music honestly, not that pathetic fame where you hug some celebrity and you get yor reputation up and get eventually 200 stupid fangirls(who btw don't like you bacuse of music and for what you are, but because of the fact that you've hugged that snob that they adore so much)

Why could't they smply do a music video with some old band they used to listen(some band that actually belongs to the "music" term, instead of those pimps or whatever they are, c'mooon)...
You know is not all in the money there's something in the moral right? and selling the pride for the fame is very very sad...
You know what I mean?

Many more successfull bands than Korn went trough their career without doing such stupid things...There are many more famos bands than Korn that even make fun of the celebrities in their lyrics... Why Korn did that...? nobody knows...

I'll still like and listen their old stuff of course but they've destroyed their own selves, and this new stuff they make...I don't even wanna listen, becuse it's not Korn anymore, it's, for me, just a snobby band that used to be pretty awesome...

You're looking too much into the video.

They did it for fun. It's a funny video, with a great theme. It wouldn't have been funny if you had an older band playing the part of Korn, that would have been sad.

The four rappers who appeared in the video belong in music also. Just because you like Rap doesn't mean that other people don't. Korn are all big fans of rap, and I really don't think they should hide it just to please people like you. Have more of an open mind.

I'm somewhat glad that Wayne and the band are not trying to reprise the sound of WDT. Without a doubt that their debut album was a classic, and one of a kind, and should remain just that; One Of A Kind. A similar album would give WDT less of 'legendary' status. All their albums have remained somewhat in the same genre and all their albums have been amazing, and I personally cant complain because of those facts.
