What type of genre of music is Static-X?
Wayne refers to the band as “Evil Disco”.

What was the original name of Static-X?
Static-X was originally called Static, when they were signed there was conflict over their name (as it was already taken) so Wayne proposed the name Wisconsin Death Trip. The band didn’t like the name, and then fiddled around with different variations of the word Static. Eventually the band agreed simply on putting an X at the end of Static. Hence the name Static-X.

Where does the name “Wisconsin Death Trip” come from?
Wisconsin Death Trip was a book that contains a collection of photos of dead people from a certain area of Wisconsin. The band liked the book and thought it’d be a great name for an album.

Who is Deep Blue Dream?
Deep Blue Dream was a band Wayne and Ken were in during the early 90's. They put out a few demos but nothing really came out of it. December was actually a DBD song.

How did Static-X form?
Billy Corgan introduced Wayne Static and Ken Jay to one another in the late 80's. The two of them went on to form the band Deep Blue Dream in 1990. After that band went nowhere the band recruited bass player Tony Campos in 1994 and formed the band Static. Eventually Koichi would join the picture in 1996/97 as lead guitarist. In 1998 Warner Brothers Records signed Static-X to a record contract and the band released their first album in 1999.

What does Otsego mean?
(From Metal Edge Magazine Dec. 03' - An interview with Wayne for the release of Shadow Zone)
Metal Edge: For the third album in a row, you've got a song that plays off the word 'Otsego'. What is that?
Wayne: Well, there was the first song 'Otsegolation', then on the second album 'Otsego Undead', that was actually part of 'Otsegolation' that got cut out, and I still thought it worked, so I wrote that for Dracula 2000 and it was on Machine, and now we have 'Otsegolectric'.
Otsego is a town near where I went to college in Michigan, and it was kind of a depressing, small town-- there was a guy named Dean there, and I had his fake ID.
ME: So technically, you were from Otsego?
WS: For a couple of years, yeah. The funny thing is, I never met Dean, and I had his ID for like three years. He was a friend of a friend, and I needed a fake ID so I could go out drinking.

Why is Otsego spelled Ostego on the Dracula 2000 soundtrack?
It’s a typo.

How does Wayne get his hair the way it is?
Magic... No really, he uses a ordinary bottle of hair spray, holds his hair up, sprays it, then drys it with a blow dryer.

Shower, towel dry hair, but not completely dry it... start in the middle of the top of the head, grab a small clump of hair (about 1-2 inch by 1-2 inch on the scalp) and hold it STRAIGHT up, spray with regular white rain 99 cent hair spray (maximum hold) or any similar hair spray (not aerosol can, pump bottle). Completely soak the hair and while holding it up, dry it with the hair dryer until completely dry and crisp... if it starts to fall make sure you get the base of the hair soaked again with hair spray and dry again... grab the next clump of hair and repeat.... work your way away from the top center until you are done

Why did Tripp and Static-X part ways?
Due to Tripp’s Legal problems he wasn’t able to fulfill his obligations to the band.

What legal problems? What did Tripp do?
On February 10th, 2005 Tod Salvador (Tripp Rex Eisen) was arrested in the parking lot of a shopping mart after he was found sleeping with an “underage female”, according to police. He was charged with preforming a “lewd act on a child” in the California case and released on $100,000 bail. Two weeks later, on February 24th, detectives from Old Bridge Township (following the lead from the first arrest) apprehended Tripp in Orange County, California, on charges brought about after the mother of a Sayreville teen came to the police January 13th 2005. Police believe that Tripp met the 14-year-old Sayreville girl on the Internet, drove out from Pennsylvania to meet her, and sexually assaulted (consensual) her in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant on Route 9 in Old Bridge, New Jersey. Although there seems to be strong evidence against Tripp it is unfair to say he is guilty until the court of law finds him guilty.

If found innocent will Tripp ever return to Static-X?
Although anything is possible, this is highly doubtful.

Why did Ken Jay leave the band?
Although no official reason was ever given, it is highly speculated to be because of musical differences or irreconcilable differences with Wayne.

What about Godhead?
Ken Jay simply needed some time away from music.

Why did Koichi leave the band?
He was “burnt out” from the constant touring Static-X did and he wanted to spend more time at home with his family.

Why did Koichi rejoin the band?
Koichi came back to Static-X to give incite and help with programming on the Start A War album. After Tripp’s legal problems, the band was left without a guitarist, and Koichi was nice enough to rejoin the band for touring duties and promotion for Start A War. Whether or not Koichi will remain with the band for the long run is undetermined, but the future looks bright.

How do you pronounce Koichi?

Why did Static-X choose Tripp as their guitarist after Koichi left?
Static-X and Dope (Tripp’s former band) played on four tours (100 shows) together. Tripp and the gang got to know each other over that time period. Koichi left he band around the same time Tripp left Dope, Tripp called Wayne, and the rest is history.

What about Nick?
Nick auditioned for the band with (about) 29 other drummers. After driving from Las Vegas to California 3 times the band decided that Nick was the most dedicated and best fit for the band.

What happened with “Where The Hell Are We And What Day Is It?”
It was suppose to be released in 2001, the problem with it was it contained live footage from Ozzfest 1999 and 2000, they didn’t have permission to use this footage, and Sharon Osbourne forced the band to pull the DVD off the shelves. There are only about 600 copies available. There is also a VHS version.

A album of rarities (from soundtracks and unreleased songs) remixes, and demos.

Are there any other rarities by Static-X that didn’t make B.B.B.?
Yes, the song Speedway (an Elvis cover) was on a NASCAR soundtrack.

What about Hip Hop by the Dead Presidents?
Wayne does lend vocals to that song, but not enough to be considered a Static-X rarity. All he says is “Yeah”

And “It’s Going Down” by the X-ecutioners?
Wayne was in the video for this song, but he did not play or sing on the track.

And “Use Less” by Skinny Puppy?
Wayne lends vocals to this track. But this track wasn’t released in time for B.B.B.

And “Not Meant For Me” by Wayne Static?
The only member of Static-X to appear on this track was Wayne. He sung the vocals for Jonathan Davis. Since neither Wayne nor Static-X had a hand in writing this song (Wayne just lends vocals) it cannot really be counted as a Static-X song, therefor there was no need to put it on B.B.B.

And the Nine Inch Nails - Closer/The Trance Is The Motion remix?
That was not an official remix, it was done by a anonymous fan.

Wayne: This is real. It was sampled off of the news. Her neighbor had left on vacation. Her and her husband, I don't know the details but somebody broke into the neighbor's house while they were on vacation. So these two went over there and literally creased the guy's skull with a shovel.
Ken: They actually showed it on the news. The guy was hamburger. It was really nasty.
Wayne: This was somewhere out in the backwoods of Southern California. The lady was on the news and they were interviewing her as though she was a hero. She lived in a trailer.
Interviewer: That is what the video is based on?
Wayne: Yeah. She was telling the story, I grabbed my shovel, beat him in the skull and took him down.”

What about the second part of the second verse in “I’m With Stupid”? What’s Wayne saying there?
Nothing, it's simply jibberish. Wayne said in an interview that it’s just random grunts and growls.

What is whispered in the beginning of “Monster”?
Hiy esta un monsturo, which is Spanish for “There is a monster”
