Ok, this is how it works. I'm going to name a song, then the next poster is going to give his opinion or whatever on the song, then he's going to name a song, and the next person gives his opinion on that song, and so on.

It can be anything, why you like the song, why you don't, what it means to you, if you have any special memories of it, what the greatest live version is, the first time you heard it, whatever. Just keep the thread going. Go as many times as you want, and don't be afraid to list a song that's been listed already. Also, any Static-X song will work, from Push It to Speedway to Team Hate. This should be fun.

I'll start the thread off with Kill Your Idols.

I extremely like the album that song is on. A bunch of great albums were released around that time and I enjoy the melodic lyrics and the riffs.

I think you're missing the point.

You respond to the song (I'll take your turn) and then post a song, so the thread keeps going.

I Want to Fucking Break It.

This song is probably the most nu-metal Static-X song there is. Everything about it screams numetal, but it's still a good song. I love the intro, and loved it even more when Static-X opened their concerts with it. It's not really one of my favorites but it's a good song nevertheless.

Totally an underrated song, not a fan of the 3 mins of repetitive synth, but as soon as the song comes more into being, it's one of Static-X's best. It seems heartfelt, and somewhat poetic. It's a great song.

So

I mean, for a Static-X song it's pretty, but compared to other bands it's so mediocre at best. The lyrics are heartfelt, but they're not some of Wayne's best, the music is good, but it's not even their best effort in slow songs (the only / invincible / December / etc.) I don't know, I see where they were going with it, but I don't see what everyone else sees in it. And to make it a single? That shocked me, considering how much better Invincible and All In Wait are.

Fix

Great song. Probably the most repetetive song they have, but still great. One of the song that defines Static-X on who they really are.

Forty Ways[/QUOTE]

I damn near pissed my pants when i heard this song for the first time. Just AWESOME!! For some reason, if a video was made for it, i imagine it all taking place in a desert with Wayne and the gang doing some kind of Off-Road Race againts a bunch of other people while the band plays on the race track, trucks racing by causing sand to fly all over as Wayne goes "40 ways to HOLD!!!! YOU!!!! DOWN!!!!".

Live, i would love to see this song use big strobe lights BEHIND each member on stage and have the lights go off in sequesnce with the opening guitar riffs. So pretty much:

*place gets dark*

*Forty Ways guitar riffs blast on speakers while strobe lights go off in sequesce behind the guys, giving the audience a tease of the band on stage by revealing their sliouhettes*

*during the quiet moments of the opening, the stage will be dark, only to be lit up again by the strobe lights when the riffs hit again*

Yes, i have quite the imaginitive mind. Lol. *sigh*. One can only hope. Lol. Anyway...

I love Structural Defect. It's not one of my favorite songs, but it's one of the songs that I think gets ignored by many people. As far as I know Static-X has never played it live, and that's a shame. I think it'd work out very well live. I always thought of it as one of Static-X's more industrial sounding songs and always wished they would do more sounds in that style. Love Wayne's vocals in that song, and the bridge is just classic Static-X. Great song.

I like the guitar intro to this song and how the drums come into it, but I'm not a huge fan of the vocal line. I'm just not a big fan of the pause start pause start pause vocal style, even though Wayne's voice sounds good in the song. I have the same problem when I get to the chorus, it sounds like Wayne was going for a nice melodic chorus, but just didn't work long enough on the melody. I'm sure he did, but it just comes off a little weak for my taste. I do however love the bridge in it (right after the second chorus), like most Static-X songs the bridge seems to come across as the strongest part of the song to me. And Tony's background vocals are great. To me, this song sounds like it had potential to be a great song, but never made it to a great song. It's still a good song, but I can see why it's a b-side.

Permanence

That song reminds me of back awhile ago when the band didnt have as many songs to play for the show.

New Pain

Honestly, I dont like the lyrics in this song. It was just a bit odd for me to hear awesome weird lyrics that made no sense to me but sounded good on WDT and Machine (Fix, Bled for Days, Otsego Undead) then Shadow Zone comes along and now some of the lyrics sound rather....well, i'm not sure how to explain how I felt when i read the lyrics to New Pain. Maybe dissappointed? I'm not sure. At the time I just thought i'd never really see the day where i would hear lyrics like, "You told me that you wanted me. You told me you hate me. Tear for our suffering. Told me that i'm the one...". Just kinda seemed like they lyrics you hear on the radio everyday. The song is good. Not a fan of the lyrics though.

I banged my head until my neck was stiff to this one. Total fun to listen to, and the best song on SZ. Short but simple heavy metal, and it was the 1st song to hint at a solo from Static-X.

Lol. Red > Purple.

Anyway, I don't really like Team Hate. Not sure why, really. It's ok at best in my opinion.

Otsegolation is a very groovy song. haha. I honestly love the groove this song has, from the intro to the verse, and then when Wayne's vocals kick in.. it's awesome. One of Wayne's best vocal lines IMHO. The underlining electronics in this song is probably what makes it so great. The end of the song is a little repetitive, but it's still good. I don't understand why they don't play this one live more often, I'd love to hear it.
