How's that then? Its not the original thing that's being seeded is it? Its a copy of the original.

My point is that if it were available for everyone to watch it for free...the desire to purchase it would vanish (for the most part). Thus, making it more difficult to sell...which would cause the seller to decrease the price. This IS a collector's item we're talking about here. Catch my drift? Wink

Yes, you're an idiot.

Just because you can watch it for free does not mean that people would not go out and buy the original. Pretty much every band I listen to I have found through piracy. I played NFS: Underground and liked "The Only". So I torrented Shadow Zone, then I torrented everything else because I liked Shadow Zone. Now I own all their albums and I'm going to their gig. Now I liked the band but there is no way in hell that I'm going to spend £100 on a DVD that might turn out to be shite, hell this thing had better bake me orgasm for £100. I'm not going to find this out without trying it first am I?

First thing...when you pirate something...you don't own it. Second thing...Static-X's albums are worth BUYING. Third..I'm glad you're going to their show, because you can't pirate a ticket. Hope you have fun kiddo!

What's with the hostility, anyway?

I have never downloaded anything pirated and I doubt I ever will. When I hear a cool band, I check out their MySpace, their website, that ussually has stuff to listen to and/or to download... That way I find out if I like them or not. I then ussually go out and buy their album, but if I don't like them, I don't. What people fail to realize is that when they download, they stop the band from making more music. Yeah, go you, you have their first album, but if everyone downloaded it, they would make no money and wouldn't be able to make any more music... People just don't get that there is a reason why you have to BUY music.

Who comes up with genre names? I will invent crumpet metal!

Don't get me wrong...I have pirated before, but never anything from Static-X. And the copies of "Where the hell are we...and what day is it?" I was talking about selling (and sending 100% of the proceeds to Static-X) just went up to $60. =)

I won't accept any payments until I find out where to send the money to tho.

(static-x just came on the radio...X107.5 (vegas) bled for days)

So what you're saying is, I shouldn't have downloaded their stuff? What you're saying is, I shouldn't have gone and got all their albums? What you're saying is, I shouldn't have gone to the bother of getting both versions of Shadow Zone? You're saying I shouldn't have gone and bought tickets for their gig?

Smooooth.

I think if Static-X were really interested in getting this DVD to people they would do it themselves.

Now you're trying to put words in my mouth. I'm saying you should pay for the efforts of others. This DVD is a COLLECTOR'S ITEM that was never OFFICIALLY PRODUCED. You want it for free...and you're not going to get it. Patience, young one.

That sounds OK, provided Static-X are OK with it and it doesn't lead to Sharon trying to sue them again...

This is where you started to go downhill in my books. First off, I torrent all the time, but I only download public domain, ex. Startgate, Andromeda, and very soon heros. By downloading ALL of their stuff from a torrent you are telling every member in the band to fuck off. Did you buy that ticket to their show to tell that to them personally?

now about the dvd, I think whomever would buy it anyways would still buy it no matter if there there was a copy on youtube or if it was torrented. Since Wayne said its ok to share the darn thing, I believe that would make it public domain as long as you dont sell it for profit for yourself.

^^ Thank you Tommy! I am amazed that people will still come here and just blurt out that they illegally downloaded every record as if it's ok. It is not ok. It doesn't matter that you went out and bought all the cd's after...because you basically said it's ok to do it. Once again..it is not ok. Keep that stuff off the board. This isn't a request..it's a rule of this board. If you didn't know it, now you do.

Dark-Hummingbird, the band DOES want everyone to see the DVD. Why would they make in the first place if they didn't? Legal issues are what keeps them from distributing it. I'm assuming you don't know the story behind all this is why you'd say that.
