i called up Mississippi Nights (where Static-X is playing August 1st) and i asked if you could bring in cameras, and they said they won't know till the day of the show, does Static-X care? I hope not. : )
it probably depends like when I went to the palladium they checked your pockets and stuff. of course I'd forgot my camera in my car but they made me give them the pencil that was in my pocket

They don't want you to stab someone, they also take away sharpies.

Unless the venue has a huge problem, we allow most cameras (all except professional cameras with big lenses, etc.), regular digital and disposable cameras, etc. are OK with us and we try to communicate to each venue not to be assholes to people taking photos.

just crotch the camera, that's what i usually do if i'm wearing pants...and obviously don't make it apparent that you're taking pictures if the venue doesn't allow it...HOB is known for that, a security guard once took my camera that had pics of my friend's band mostly and maybe one or two pics of static...asshole!
The band doesn't mind if you take a few pics. Hell, they'll even pose for you.
As for the Venues some of them don't allow cameras or spiky objects (necklaces ect.) So, if you are going to bring a cam make sure you can hide it where the guards can't find it if they do a search at the door. =)
